Qing-Xiang (Amy) Sang, Ph.D., is a Professor of Chemistry & Biochemistry with an Endowed Professorship in Cancer Research at the Florida State University (FSU), Tallahassee, Florida, USA. Dr. Sang is a leading scientist for the research of the biochemistry, enzymology, and molecular cell biology of metalloproteinases and their inhibitors, and their roles in cancer, stroke, and stem cell differentiation. She is a discoverer of a putative human cancer biomarker, endometase/matrilysin-2/matrix metalloproteinase-26 (MMP-26).  Professor Sang has devoted her life to do research and train students with the goals of curing cancer and other diseases, eliminating the suffering of patients and their families, and improving quality of life for humankind. She has won several national awards for her research including an Individual National Research Service Award from National Institutes of Health (NIH); a FIRST Award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI); a New Investigator Award from the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program; an Exploration-Hypothesis Development Award from DOD Prostate Cancer Research Program; an award from the Susan G. Komen for the Cure for breast cancer research; and a Distinguished Lecturer Award from the Center for Prostate Cancer Research, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, DOD.
